With the opening of our new Border Control Post (BCP) facility at our Purfleet Port, where trailers and containers carrying mainly food and plant products will be inspected, we require a Apprentice Warehouse Operative to assist with the continued set-up and running of the new operation.


Your role


As an Apprentice Warehouse Operative, you will support the team ensuring a safe and efficient operation is achieved for handing our customer’s cargo on and off various types of units, such as trailers and containers. As part of this role, you will be expected to study and pass a Level 2 Supply Chain & Warehouse Apprenticeship. 


  • Using forklift trucks and pallet trucks for handling customer’s cargo. Full training will be provided. 
  • To follow Health and Safety procedures as laid out by the Company.
  • To handle cargo in a safe manner, working specifically to safe systems of work (SSOW).
  • To work alongside experienced operatives and team leaders to load and unload customers goods.
  • To work alongside government agencies producing goods for them to be inspected. 
  • Warehouse operations. 

Your profile


  • You will hold GCSE level 4 or functional skills Level 2 in Maths and English (or equivalent).
  • Be health and safety conscious and have a good knowledge of Safe Systems of Work (SSOW). 
  • Team player, able to work on their own initiative.
  • You must be a self-motivated individual, with a flexible approach to work.
  • Good timekeeping is essential.
  • Full UK driving license is essential.
  • Forklift truck licence is desirable, but not essential.
  • As part of this role, you will be expected to study and pass the Supply Chain & Warehouse Level 2 Apprenticeship.
