Your role

The role is aimed at graduates with an interest in gaining a range of employability skills and management experience related to their degree for a duration ranging between 2 and 9 months, dependant on current study status.  The range of tasks will vary, but the role is likely to include supporting operational departments, project work and data analysis, providing general administration and managerial support.

  • To gain knowledge of the organisation and Port Industry Management experience within our Purfleet or Killingholme Ports (location to be confirmed prior to commencing internship).
  • To complete a rotation plan of placements around different departments across the business.
  • To assist/provide feedback in the development of our internship program, offering any recommendations for change.
  • To assist managers with tasks such as research, data capturing and working closely with different team members to learn more about the business.
  • To present any research findings in reports or presentation format to the requesting Manager.
  • To complete short management projects throughout internship duration.
  • To complete TUG and FLT training.
  • To job shadow in department, observing activities and learning role requirements (required in more hands-on roles such as Engineering).
  • To be willing to work shift patterns in various placements, as not always 8am to 5pm day shifts, however, night shifts will not be required.
  • To build relationships with colleagues, customers and clients.
  • To adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • To adhere to all Health and Safety policies on the Ports.

 

Your profile

  • Studying to degree level, (equivalent qualifications)
  • Able to demonstrate some work experience
  • Will have excellent IT skills
  • Must have great communication skills
  • Will be proactive and practical in an industrial environment
  • Should have an analytical and forward-thinking approach
  • Have the ability to build effective working relationships at all levels
  • Will have a full, clean driving licence
  • Must have a passport for potential travel to European ports
