CLdN Ports Killingholme wish to recruit an Assistant Workshop Manager to work within our busy and expanding engineering department. The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar role and have a flexible, professional and pro-active approach to work.
Your role
Deputise for the Workshop Manager and take ownership of the workshop in their absence.
Lead, coach and develop the workshop team, driving performance, conduct and engagement.
Support performance management and, where necessary, disciplinary matters, working with HR.
Own workshop data and reporting — KPIs, downtime and cost information — for senior management.
Maintain accurate workshop records and systems, digitally in our asset management system.
Drive digital process improvements across the workshop.
Support budget monitoring and cost control for the department.
Ensure equipment is serviced and maintained to LOLER, PUWER and manufacturer standards.
Carry out quality checks, audits and inspections, on equipment and policies such as SSOWs.
Liaise with Terminal Managers and stakeholders on equipment availability and maintenance planning.
Support training, apprentice development and workforce administration.
Provide hands-on cover and technical support when required.
Stay flexible and dynamic to meet operational demand.
Your profile
Degree preferred; HND minimum in mechanical engineering, electromechanics or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Experience in an engineering, workshop or maintenance environment; ideally with heavy plant or port terminal equipment.
Proven experience leading, coaching or supervising a team.
Strong data analysis and reporting skills, with KPI/performance tracking experience.
Strong with Microsoft and bespoke ERP systems (Excel, Navision, Ultimo or similar).
Working knowledge of LOLER, PUWER and related statutory regulations, including H&S.
Highly organised, with strong attention to detail.
Confident, proactive leadership style — able to motivate and hold a team to account.
Good communicator, comfortable liaising with stakeholders across the business.
Flexible approach, happy to cover hands-on duties when needed.
