An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Health & Safety Coordinator, to join the fast paced environment of our Health & Safety Department, as the company continues on its rapid growth.
Your role
· Support the implementation, upkeep, and continuous improvement of health and safety policies, procedures, and management systems.
· Conduct routine site inspections, audits, and risk assessments, ensuring hazards are identified and addressed promptly.
· Assist with the investigation of accidents, incidents, near‑misses, and dangerous occurrences, including reviewing and updating relevant risk assessments.
· Provide Health, Safety and Environmental advice to site teams, ensuring compliance with corporate, legal, and industry standards.
· Monitor the completion of statutory checks in line with required schedules and escalate issues as necessary.
· Prepare, maintain, and organise accurate health, safety, and environmental records and documentation.
· Participate in local safety meetings and produce clear, accurate minutes and action logs.
· Engage proactively with employees to support and strengthen a positive health and safety culture.
· Conduct drug and alcohol testing in line with company policy.
· Undertake any training required by management to effectively fulfil the duties of the role.
Your profile: Essentials
· NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent Level 3 H&S qualification)
· Must have a passport for potential travel to European ports
· At least 1 year experience working in a health and safety role in the UK
· A full, clean driving licence
· Will be willing to undertake a Basic Disclosure and Barring (DBS) check
· Already have the right to work in the UK. No sponsorship is available for this position
· Must be willing to travel to other sites on occasion, as per business need.
Your Role: Desirable:
· IOSH membership (TechIOSH or working towards)
· Experience in the ports industry Confident using Microsoft Office and safety management systems
· Strong communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels
· Good analytical and problem‑solving ability
· Evidence a high degree of flexibility
· Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
· Further training qualifications (e.g., Train the Trainer, PTLLS, or internal trainer certifications)
· Additional H&S certifications (Fire Risk Assessor, First Aid at Work, Manual Handling, DSE Assessor,)
