An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Health, Safety & Environment Manager, to ensure effective management of safety and environmental issues at CLdN.

Role responsibilities:

  • Advise management on legal compliance with safety and environmental legislation.

  • Ensure communication within the department and that all members of the team are suitably trained and up to date with legislation.

  • Ensure that management is kept up to date with any changes, additions or developments in Health, Safety and Environmental legislation.

  • Ensure that all accidents and incidents are investigated and reported in a timely manner.

  • Report details of accident rates and incidents to management monthly.

  • Maintain regular contact with other Health & Safety managers within the group to share information on health, safety and training matters.

  • Review, update when necessary and test the full emergency and evacuation procedures for CLdN UK Ports.

  • Review, monitor and ensure effective implementation of the Health & Safety Management System, ensuring that all policies, systems, and procedures are monitored, audited and reviewed as per the documentation and relevant updates are made to keep in line with any changes in legislation.

  • Review the workplace transport assessment within all operational areas of the port and ensure that significant risks are assessed, and adequate controls are put in place.

  • Review current training course contents, working in tandem with the training department, to ensure that training requirements are met.

  • Review all active and reactive data and where appropriate, assist line management to implement measures to minimize the risks of incidents and repeat occurrences.

  • Introduce initiatives to increase H&S awareness throughout the terminal.

  • Conduct investigations as and when required. 

  • Undertake any training, determined by management, enabling postholder to fulfil the role efficiently.

  • Deputise for Head of Health & Safety (UK Ports) as and when required which will include travelling to other sites both within and outside of the UK.

Your profile:

  • We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised individual who:

  • Holds a Level 5 Health & Safety qualification or higher.

  • Worked in Health & Safety management within a logistics industry

  • Has a high degree of flexibility

  • Possesses strong communication and interpersonal skills with all levels of management and staff

  • Able to demonstrate confidence in working under pressure and is able to use their own initiative.

  • Is decisive and able to work in a team

  • Able to prioritise workload and meet deadlines

  • Has good IT Skills (MS Office and databases)

  • Possesses a full clean driving licence
