An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Health & Safety – Graduate Management Trainee, to join the fast paced environment of our Health & Safety Department, as the company continues on its rapid growth. You will receive the appropriate training through a relevant Health & Safety Level 5 (or above) course, developing the skills necessary to be a competent Health and Safety professional. Our aim is to prepare you for line management by equipping you with the skills and practical experience needed.
Your role
- To study and pass a relevant Health & Safety Level 5 (or above) course.
- Adhere to and promote all health, safety and welfare policies whilst supporting and maintaining the companies approved management systems.
- Support Health and Safety Managers and Officers in line with corporate, internal, legal and international industry standards.
- Ensure that Management are kept up-to-date with any changes, additions or developments in Health, Safety and Environmental legislation.
- Maintain regular contact with other Health & Safety Managers within the Group to share information on Health, Safety and Training matters.
- Ensure that all accidents and incidents are investigated and reported in a timely manner.
- Assist in the provision of the sites Health, Safety and Environmental support and advice.
- Monitor the completion of statutory checks in accordance with the agreed schedules.
- Hazard identification and site inspections.
- Participate in local safety meetings and take accurate minutes of the meeting.
- Prepare and maintain health, safety and environmental records.
- Conduct the investigation of accidents, incidents, dangerous occurrences and near misses , including the review of risk assessments.
- Actively engage with employees to develop health and safety culture.
- Complete drug and alcohol testing in accordance with the Company policy.
- Undertake any training, determined by Management, enabling postholder to fulfil the role efficiently.
Your profile
- Educated to degree level, with a minimum of 2:2 (or equivalent qualifications)
- Able to demonstrate some work experience.
- Will have excellent IT skills
- Must have great communication skills
- Will be proactive and practical in an industrial environment
- Evidence a high degree of flexibility
- Have the ability to build effective working relationships at all levels
- Will have a full, clean driving licence
- Must have a passport for potential travel to European ports
- Will be willing to undertake a Basic Disclosure and Barring (DBS) check
- Already have the right to work in the UK. No sponsorship is available for this position
