As a BI & Data Functional Analyst your responsibilities are, supported by the Data & BI Manager to deliver business value at the intersection of business processes, data, and technology.  Your mission is to translate operational and strategic information needs into actionable BI & Data Solutions that enhance shipping efficiency, cargo optimization, supply chain performance and sustainable operations.

You’ll work closely with colleagues from operations, planning, sales, finance, IT and the BI & Data team, your insights will directly support smarter, data-driven decision-making in a maritime environment. Our office is based in Antwerp (Wilrijk). 

 

Your role

  • Gather and analyse reporting needs from various departments;

  • Act as the liaison between the business and BI & Data team; you understand both worlds and can connect them effectively;

  • Ensure these requirements are implemented and actioned as efficiently as possible;

  • Proactively identify, explore and implement opportunities for improvement in terms of data insights and process optimization;

  • Facilitate requirement workshops and 1 on 1 sessions to crystallize business needs and translate these into clear functional requirements and user stories;

  • Work closely with the BI & Data team to design, test and deliver actionable dashboards, analytic solutions and data models;

  • Ensure proper follow up of BI-projects from start to finish, including implementation, stakeholder alignment and change management;

  • Oversee the delivery within cross-functional teams;

  • Support the business in understanding and adopting data products, while continuously gathering feedback for improvement;

  • Contribute to the development of data literacy and self-service reporting and insight capabilities within the organization;

  • Provide directions to the developers in collaboration with the team lead of the data engineers and the BI & Data Manager;

  • Supervise if the tasks are finished in the appropriate way, based on development standards and processes;

  • Ensure in collaboration with the data team that user stories, tasks, data products are documented appropriately in work instructions and procedures;

  • You report to the Data & BI Manage. 

 

Your profile

Core Expertise                                          

  • Hands-on experience with DevOps, Scrum and Agile methodologies. Skilled in story telling and crafting well-structured user stories for the team.

  • Proficient in statistical analysis, data wrangling

  • Mapping business analysis and process flows

  • Supportive role during the testing phase and validation procedures

  • Solid understanding of data management, data quality and data modeling techniques, 

  • Basic SQL knowledge, with awareness of data security & compliance standards

  • Familiar with data visualizations best practices and presenting insights effectively
