CLdN top performer amongst its ro-ro shipping peers in Northwest Europe!

MV Hermine

At CLdN we walk the talk and wish to inspire.

You may not yet know this, but we are proud to say that CLdN RoRo is the top performer amongst its ro-ro shipping peers in Northwest Europe for CO2 emissions per tonne of freight carried.

Our statement is based on public MRV data for pure freight ro-ro vessels, as publicized on https://mrv.emsa.europa.eu/#public/emission-report. You don’t have to just take our word for it, so we asked PwC to run an independent check and the report can now be found on our website www.cldnroro.com/downloads. We are happy to supply a full copy of this report to our customers on demand.

With a weighted average emission for our fleet of 36 g CO2/tonne-km ( or 67 g CO2/tonne-nm) in 2020, we emitted 17% less greenhouse gas per tonne of cargo carried than our second best competitor.

Have a look at the typical emissions of other modes of freight transport (Source: Fraunhofer ISI and CE Delft, 2020):

✈️ 1036 g CO2/tonne-km
? 137 g CO2/tonne-km
? 24 g CO2/tonne-km

Did you know that our MV Hermine has a CO2 emission of 21g CO2/tonne-km.
This means she emits less carbon than a train!

CLdN's ambition is to further reduce its carbon footprint and to maintain its position as greenest ro-ro operator by:

  • Slow steaming
  • Innovative propulsion
  • Operational efficiency
